About this event

This workshop series will help parents and caregivers understand their child’s development and how to support their exceptional needs. Topics will include how a child develops emotionally, what systems you will need to understand to support your child’s needs, how to keep track of all the information, what it takes to be an effective advocate for your child, and how to support your needs as the caregiver.

September 21, Session #1This workshop will address a child’s emotional development and the impact of trauma on the child’s development and future health and wellness.

September 28, Session #2In this workshop, caregivers and parents will learn about the systems families engage to secure services and resources for their children. We also look at how to be an equal partner with the teams serving your child.

October 5, Session #3This workshop looks at all the laws that protect children with disabilities and teaches strategies to document and store all the information you collect, along with how to be an effective advocate for your child.

October 12, Session #4Parents and caregivers are not immune to the stress of caregiving. This workshop will give participants the strategies and resources they need to support their own wellness in order to be a strong parent and advocate for their child.
